Microdermabrasion /Chemical Peels

Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is less aggressive than dermabrasion. A minimally abrasive instrument is used to gently sand the surface of the skin removing the uneven outer layer. This allows a new layer of skin to form resulting in a smoother, more youthful appearance. Micro particles or a diamond tipped wand is used for this procedure.
Good Candidates
If you have scarring from acne, discoloration, sun damage, large pores or light wrinkles, microdermabrasion may be right for you.
Prior to Microdermabrasion
Your skin care professional will review your skin care history, discuss your goals and expectations and together you will decide the best plan for your skin.
The Microderm Treatment
Your skin will be cleansed. Sometimes a fruit enzyme will be applied prior to the microderm to enhance your results. Micro particles or a diamond tipped wand is used for this procedure. Customized treatment serums may be applied as well as sun protection. The treatment will take approximately 30-45 minutes depending on the treatment protocol chosen for your individual goals. For maximum results, six treatments every one to two weeks are recommended. Once goals are met, a monthly maintenance treatment is advised.
Benefits
Smoother, firmer, more even skin tone is the result of regular treatments. There is also little or no downtime with this treatment
After the Microderm
You may experience mild redness for a few hours. You will be advised to wear appropriate sun protection for several weeks after your treatment.
*Microdermabrasion is often used in addition to a Chemical Exfoliation. Ask your Aesthetician if this would be appropriate for you.
Chemical Peels
A chemical peel is the least invasive way to improve skin tone and texture. A chemical solution is applied to the skin to remove the outer, damaged layers. This is a great way to be proactive about the care of your skin.
Good Candidates
If your skin has been over exposed to the sun, your tone is uneven, you suffer from acne, you have fine lines or wrinkles or you simply want that youthful glow, Chemical Peels may be the way to go.
Prior to the Treatment
Your licensed skin care professional will review your skin care history, discuss your goals and expectations and decide if a Chemical Peel is the right choice for you.
The Chemical Process
Your skin will be cleansed first. Using a large cotton swab or gauze, a chemical solution will be applied evenly to the face and neck. Alphahydroxy or beta hydroxyl acids may be used. You may experience some stinging or itching. Depending on the solution used the chemical is left on the skin for up to 10 minutes then neutralized. A moisturizer and/or sunscreen will be applied. This process will take approximately 30 minutes.
Benefits
For maximum benefits, six chemical exfoliation treatments are recommended every two weeks. Once the desired results have been achieved, a maintenance program of one treatment a month should be followed to maintain your results.
Post Peel
Your licensed Aesthetician will give you detailed instructions on the dos and don’ts after a chemical peel. You will be instructed to avoid sun exposure for at least 7 days up to 2 weeks depending on the depth of the peel and to always apply sunscreen in the morning before heading out.
*Sometimes chemical peels are used in conjunction with microdermabrasion. Ask your Aesthetician if this would be right for you.
